Data deletion instructions

How to request deletion of your Inlay account and personal data.

You can request that we delete your Inlay account and all personal data associated with it at any time. This page describes how.

If you connected social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) to Inlay, deleting your Inlay account also removes our access to those accounts. Inlay never controls or deletes content on the social platforms themselves — your posts, followers, and history on those platforms remain untouched.

How to request deletion

  1. Send an email to hello@inlayengine.com from the email address associated with your Inlay account.
  2. Use a clear subject line such as “Data deletion request” or “Delete my account.”
  3. Confirm in the message body that you want your Inlay account and all associated personal data deleted.

We may ask one or two follow-up questions to verify your identity before processing the request. This is to protect your account from unauthorized deletion.

What gets deleted

  • Your Inlay account, profile information (name, email, business name, niche, target audience, brand voice preferences)
  • All AI-generated content, scripts, captions, and ideas associated with your account
  • Connected social media account credentials (OAuth tokens) — Inlay loses all access to your linked social platforms
  • Scheduled posts that have not yet been published
  • Historical analytics data we have stored on your behalf
  • Help-bot conversation logs and support history

What may be retained

Some information may be retained after account deletion when legally required or necessary for legitimate business purposes:

  • Billing and payment records — retained as required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years)
  • Fraud and security records — retained as needed to prevent abuse or comply with legal obligations
  • Anonymized or aggregated data — data that no longer identifies you may be retained for analytics
  • Backup archives — backups are deleted on rolling schedules; personal data in backups will be removed within 90 days of your deletion request

Timeline

We will confirm receipt of your deletion request within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days. For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other GDPR-protected jurisdictions, this matches the GDPR Article 17 statutory maximum.

Removing our app via Facebook settings

If you remove our app (Facebook lists it as Cloutly, our previous company name) from your Facebook → Business Integrations page, Facebook automatically notifies us and your Inlay account is queued for deletion within seconds — no email required. Facebook will give you a confirmation code and a link where you can check the deletion status.

Disconnecting a social account without deleting your Inlay account

If you only want to disconnect a specific social media account from Inlay (without deleting your Inlay account), you can do so directly inside the app:

  1. Sign in to your Inlay account
  2. Go to Settings → Connected accounts
  3. Click Disconnect next to the account you want to remove, and confirm

You can also remove our app's access to your Facebook / Instagram account directly from your Facebook account settings: Facebook Settings → Business Integrations → find Cloutly (our previous company name) → Remove.
